Jen Vaughn is a new addition to LACC, recently hired in Fall 2013 as a full time Assistant Professor in the Cinema/TV Department. Her courses include beginning and advanced level television production and editing. As a member of the Technology Steering Committee and Unit Planning Validation Team she is actively engaged in learning about LACC’s commitment to the education of our students and faculty.
She holds both BA and MA degrees from San Francisco State University where she spent 10 years as full-time Lecturer in the Broadcast and Electronic Communications Arts Department. There she has taught a variety of hands-on television production classes and was Technical Manager of a live webcast news program, live-to-tape weekly variety show and weekly sportscast. She has worked in professional live broadcast as an Editor and Technical Director for Pac12 Network and was one of ten nationally selected apprentices for the NAB-Education Foundation Technology Apprenticeship Program.
Jen was recently hired as a consultant for faculty training at Campbell Hall in television studio production and attends annual conferences in Las Vegas which help her stay “On The Cutting Edge” of broadcast technology. The Broadcast Education Association and National Association of Broadcasting convention are a great source of information and inspiration on how to bring the facilities and pedagogy of the Cinema/TV Department up to date industry standards.
